OUR MISSION
Empower health care providers to identify and eliminate labor and sex trafficking of youth in their communities, advocate for effective national policies and provide support to survivors.
Our Strategic Goals
Promote the education of pediatric-focused health care providers and other health professionals on human trafficking.
- Sustain and expand the reach of evidence-based continuing education courses about human trafficking for pediatric-focused health care providers and other health professionals.
- Create and disseminate workshops to engage APRNs in active learning about human trafficking.
- Create and disseminate evidence-based resources to guide pediatric-focused APRNs in strength-based care and trauma-informed responses to youth affected by human trafficking.
Sustain and grow the ACT Advocate training program to increase the number of qualified health care professionals who deliver peer-to-peer education at a grassroots level.
- Reach additional pediatric-focused APRNs and other pediatric-serving professionals through the ACT Advocates program.
- Increase utilization of ACT Basecamp to support pediatric nurse practitioners and other qualified health care professionals trained as ACT Advocates.
- Expand education of health care professionals in various settings about human trafficking using grassroots efforts and innovative outreach methods.
- Promote the ACT Advocate’s speakers bureau.
Promote education about human trafficking to community members.
- Disseminate a presentation for laypersons to increase awareness among community leaders
- Develop and disseminate human trafficking prevention resources for youth
- Explore the use of varied media for the sharing human trafficking information to youth
- Explore the development of a “Response to Human Trafficking” certification for APRNs
Continue to build an alliance of stakeholders and strategic partners to ensure best practices and protocols are developed and disseminated at the national, state and local levels.
- Continue recruitment of partners and supporters of NAPNAP Partners and ACT Advocates.
- Partner with human trafficking survivors to inform the work of ACT Advocates.
- Advocate for legislation that addresses protections for youth at risk for and affected by human trafficking, and the unique challenges faced by survivors.
- Partner with universities across the nation to educate undergraduate and graduate nursing students to recognize and respond to human trafficking of youth.
- Partner with other nursing and APRN organizations to educate members on the recognition and response to the human trafficking of youth.
- Strengthen internal collaborations among NAPNAP entities.
- Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of the Alliance for Children in Trafficking.
Participate in research activities that advance understanding of human trafficking.
- Conduct research and/or quality improvement involving the assessment of healthcare provider knowledge of human trafficking.
- Publish evidence-based information and best practices about the recognition and response to human trafficking, including sub-types of human trafficking, for pediatric-focused providers and other healthcare professionals.
Support Partners staff in their efforts to raise funds to sustain and grow ACT initiatives
- Sustain strategic collaborations to advance education of communities.
- Establish a network of contributors.
- Explore fundraising opportunities through partnerships with other organizations.
